Kathy Richardson
Kathy Richardson, also known as Catherine Washington, was a vibrant force of nature, born on October 25, 1957, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a woman of immense strength and enduring love, whose radiant smile and infectious laughter left deep imprints on the hearts of those she met. As Vincent Van Gogh once said, “What is done in love is done well,” and Kathy embodied this sentiment throughout her life, pouring her heart and soul into her relationships and the many roles she undertook.
Kathy was the beloved mother to her six daughters, Balisha McCoy, Larhonda Richardson, Brianna Washington-Dickey, Brishuna Washington, Banika Jimerson, and Roshawnia Richardson. She was also the cherished aunt to her niece Manuela Reed and April Washington, and a revered figure to her nephew and son, Cliff Washington. Kathy’s unwavering commitment to her family was a testament to her character, echoing the words of George Eliot, “What do we live for, if not to make life less difficult for each other?” Despite the challenges she faced, Kathy always prioritized the needs of her family, making sure they felt loved and cared for at all times.
Kathy is now reunited with her parents, Eugenia Watkins and Leon Washington, who preceded her in death. As we mourn her departure from this world, we also celebrate the life of a woman who was as extraordinary as she was ordinary. Kathy’s spirit, resilience, and love for her family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. As Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel,” and Kathy has indelibly marked our hearts with her love and kindness.
