May 20, 1975 ~ February 25, 2024

Jay Philip Dalby, born 20 May 1975 in Tucson Arizona to Jan Fredric and Judith (Judy) Anne Nelson Dalby, passed away 25 February 2024 in Las Vegas Nevada at age 48. He is survived by his son Darwin Finnegan (Finn) and Akila Santana Dalby and their daughter Athena; his siblings Jennifer, Jeffrey, and Jessica (Egbert); and his parents, Jan and Judy. Jay was named after his grandpa John Philip Dalby, who always went by Phil and signed his name “J. Philip Dalby.” Jay was born with a shock of red hair, a sweet disposition, and plenty of admirers. He became a man who possessed many talents and skills. He was an artist, musician (guitarist, composer, and singer), cook, athlete (mainly basketball), electronics technician, computer guru, auto repairman, and expert appliance repair specialist. He loved the beauty of nature as well as all animals. He rescued off the street a Chihuahua he named Peeto, and later took in a pregnant feral cat (and soon two kittens). He fed pigeons (that landed on him) and brought carrots and apples to horses at nearby ranches. Out of kindness and Christian love he served homeless men, neighbors, the elderly, and friends-in-need. His greatest joy was his son Finn, who was his best friend and 100 percent every-day school attendee, JROTC officer, singer and composer and athlete (like Jay), and high school valedictorian. Jay fell in love a few times (but never married), made friends at work and through music, performed in a small band, and found peace in sermons by Pastors Drew and Mitch at the Canyon Ridge Christian Church. Jay’s humor, love of animals and nature, and service to others will be missed in this world.
